Psycho-educational Evaluation
Psychoeducational testing refers to the psychological tests used to analyze the mental processes underlying your child’s educational performance. These results are obtained through direct assessment (e.g., intelligence tests, processing tests), interviews, observation, and record review. Once the testing is complete, the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team will meet to discuss the results, determine special education eligibility, and services. I specialize in complicated cases, including Autism, Emotional Disturbances, severe Learning Disabilities, Twice Exceptional, and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
Functional Behavior Assessment
This type of assessment is appropriate when a student's behavior is having a negative impact on their ability to access their educational program. The process of learning about how children develop problem behaviors is called Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA). If we learn about the behaviors and know when and where they are likely to happen, we can plan positive strategies to teach new behaviors. These strategies are called positive behavioral interventions. Teachers and parents will use the information from an FBA to help a child learn new skills.
Educationally Related Mental Health Services or Educationally Related Intensive counseling Services Assessment (ERMHS or ERICS)
Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS) are mental health services that are provided to students receiving special education services. These services are provided when students have significant socio-emotional or socio- behavioral needs that impede their ability to benefit from their special education services. A comprehensive social-emotional assessment must be completed to determine the need for these services, as well as areas to target for intervention.
